Mission/Goal/RIP Initiative

Our Mission:

Illinois Election Integrity Program is a non-partisan group of U.S. citizen volunteers helping to defend the integrity of the voting process that protects our freedoms and way of life. IEIP seeks to protect our Republic, a government of, by, and for the people by maintaining an active role in that part of government which empowers citizens with our most fundamental right ~ the right to choose our representatives by fair and honest elections.

Our Goal:

The goal of IEIP is to enable citizens to become active participants in the entire election process, from overseeing the integrity of the voter rolls to ensuring that each lawfully cast vote is fairly counted and that all processes are in compliance with federal, state and local laws, statutes and regulations.

“Let Them Rest in Peace” ICU Initiative

Illinois Conservative Union’s (ICU) Election Integrity Program has an ICU Initiative called “Let Them Rest in Peace!”. We want the bad guys to stop harassing dead people. We think it’s mean to dredge up the dear departed every election cycle and force dead people to vote from the grave. Let them Rest in Peace already!

WHY CLEAN THE VOTER ROLLS?

  • Helping to maintain clean voter rolls is non-partisan.
  • Every voter, no matter their political party, should want to make sure their vote is not cancelled by an ineligible voter who fraudulently votes.
  • Inaccurate voter rolls are a major problem across the U.S. costing taxpayers $$$.
  • Local Election Authorities (EAs)/County Clerks might not make cleaning voter rolls a priority
  • Did you know that Federal law mandates that local EAs must clean and maintain the voter rolls?
  • The law is spelled out in section 8(i) of the Federal National Voter Registration Act (NVRA, signed into law in 1993).
  • The Federal NVRA preempts state law
  • If your local EAs/County Clerks aren’t maintaining the rolls, they are in violation of FEDERAL LAW.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF CLEAN VOTER ROLLS?

  • Clean rolls can be a significant cost-savings for EAs/County Clerks and taxpayers
  • Accurate rolls make it easier to vote and harder to cheat
  • Anyone can play an important role in helping to clean and maintain the voter rolls

WHAT IS THE PROCESS TO CLEAN THE VOTER ROLLS?

  • Contact your local Precinct Committeeman, Township Chairman or County Chairman of your preferred political party (Republican https://illinois.gop/, Democrat https://www.ildems.com/)
  • Tell them you want to volunteer to help remove deceased voters from the voter rolls.
  • If you don’t have a Precinct Committeeman (PC) in your precinct, volunteer to become a PC or an Assistant PC, or team up with a friend to volunteer
  • Removing deceased voters is a clear-cut process
  • Focus on removing deceased voters for now. (Removing voters who have relocated is a bit more complex).
  • Using the local voter list, look at the age of the voter (Most PC lists will show voter age, but not birth date for security reasons).
  • As a start, search online for voters on the list who are 70+ years old. If you have time, you can search other names too.
  • Find a First Name/Last Name/DOB and match data with an obituary, the Social Security Death Index, or other reliable documentation to show the voter is deceased.
  • A death certificate for the deceased individual from their relative makes removal easy.
  • A signed affidavit from a relative of the deceased might also be accepted (Download legal affidavit here. Download a sample form you can use to notify the EA here).
  • Be sure to keep a copy of all records submitted to the EA/County Clerk.
  • Follow up in a few weeks to make sure those voters have been removed.
  • Precinct Committeemen across Illinois tell us they have submitted the names of deceased voters to have them removed from the rolls, but years later that voter is still on their precinct list!
  • If the deceased voter has not been removed, ask the EA/County Clerk to tell you why.
  • If they cannot give you a legitimate reason why they aren’t removing deceased voters, remind them that they are in violation of FEDERAL LAW.
  • Use this link to locate your local EA/County Clerk
  • Please share this information and/or share the link to this information on your favorite social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Telegram, NextDoor, etc).
