UPDATE 02-18-2026: GREAT WORK EVERYONE! Your actions made a difference. The hearing on this bill was scheduled for 2PM Tuesday, February 17. At around noon on the 17th, they canceled the hearing! Could it be the 2,260 Witness Slips we filed OPPOSING this bill which caused them to pause? Stay tuned… we’ll keep monitoring this and other election bills and keep you posted. This legislation will turn Illinois into a Universal Vote by Mail state.
Illinois will be like California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Vermont, and Washington. In these states, all voters on the inaccurate voter rolls automatically receive a LIVE BALLOT, EVERY ELECTION without requesting one.
• The IL bill says it’s “optional”: Election Authority “may elect to mail a VBM ballot” to everyone on that election jurisdictions voter rolls – instead of sending any notices and/or applications.
• However, it will be a very short step until we see every name on Illinois dirty, inaccurate voter rolls being mailed a LIVE BALLOT for EVERY election.
• If the voter has MOVED or is DECEASED and has not been REMOVED from the voter rolls, that person will receive a LIVE BALLOT.
• Election Authorities will be very tempted by this because it will save money – they won’t have to mail out notices and applications – only LIVE BALLOTS.
• Voters will have to OPT OUT in writing if they DO NOT want to automatically receive a LIVE BALLOT.
• Universal VBM states report LIVE BALLOTS being delivered by the postal service and piling up in apartment vestibules, hallways, unattended buildings, etc. – ready for the pickings by fraudsters.
• The bill mandates Election Authorities create a list of every voter to whom these LIVE BALLOTS have been mailed, for the public to access. This will make it very easy for fraudsters to HARVEST LIVE BALLOTS.
